Established in 1891, the University
of Oklahoma is
internationally known for the high quality of its faculty, students and
academic programs. The university attracts students from every state as well as
85 foreign countries and has the highest number of National Merit Scholars per
capita of any public institution in the United States.
In 2000, the
University of Oklahoma’s
Center of Independent and Distant Learning developed the OU High School diploma
program. All high school courses comply
with the approved curriculum of Oklahoma schools and are assigned the same
credit as courses offered in traditional high school classrooms.

Accreditation - Oklahoma University High School
is accredited
by the
Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA)
and by the
North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement.
Quality and Experience - The University of Oklahoma
Center of Independent and Distant Learning has been offering distance
learning courses since 1910 and is
ranked as one of the largest programs in the
country. Today, over 140 college
and
100 high
school courses are available.
Accomplished Students - Each year many students earn their high school diplomas through Oklahoma
University High School. SAT scores are
consistently higher than the national average. Graduates have been accepted to
top colleges, universities
and military academies nationwide.
Full College Preparatory Program

Over 100 courses have been developed, including traditional core courses,
electives, study skills, advance placement (AP) a nd dual credit courses.
College Credit Availability
- Earn both high school and college credits by successfully completing
either AP courses (including exam) or freshman and sophomore university courses directly. Over 60
courses are available to high school
students.
Transfer Credits - Students can
transfer academic credits to
OU High School. Credits from other state/regional/international accredited high schools
are transferable. For students from a
non-accredited program,
portfolios may be
submitted. OU High School may require
testing for validation. You may request further information
about portfolio submission from the high school
counselor or student advisor.
NCAA Course Approval: All core courses are approved by the
NCAA Eligibility Center.
